The new Kong slide: what to know before your visit
Because it’s new and popular, a queue tends to build on holidays and weekends. Here are honest, practical tips so you can ride Kong without the stress — and make your day in Čatež genuinely relaxing.

What is the Kong slide?
- Length: 77 metres, the longest indoor slide in the country
- Where: an enclosed tube with light animation in the Winter Thermal Riviera
- When: the winter riviera is open 365 days a year, from 9 am to 9 pm
- For whom: anyone who loves a thrill — from older kids to adults
How to avoid the crowds (the most important part)
The most common guest complaint is overcrowding — worst on New Year’s Day, public holidays and weekends. But it’s easy to sidestep:
- Come on a weekday. Tuesday or Wednesday morning is nothing like a Sunday. Fewer people, shorter lines, a relaxed feel.
- Check occupancy before you get in the car. The online ticket shop shows the riviera’s approximate occupancy — treat it like a traffic light and set off when it isn’t full.
- Arrive at opening (9 am). The first hour is the calmest. Kong is almost queue-free then.
- Buy your ticket in advance. An online ticket lets you skip the line at the desk.
Good to know (so there are no surprises)
- The red light on the slide isn’t a fault — it’s the safety gap between rides. Waits are longer at weekends, so a weekday morning is the smart choice.
- Indoor surfing usually runs on weekends and holidays. If that’s why you’re coming, check ahead.
- An individual slide may occasionally be closed. The riviera has several pools and attractions, so there’s plenty to do — ask on arrival what’s running that day.
- The sauna is not included in the pool ticket. The Wellness Riviera (saunas) has a separate ticket and is adults-only.
- For a day visit you may be asked for a refundable deposit on the wristband at entry, returned when you leave. Check current terms at the desk.
Where to stay: 5 minutes from the spa
To avoid the crush in the changing rooms and long weekend queues, the smartest move is to stay nearby and arrive at opening. La Hiška Čatež is just minutes from the spa. Instead of hotel crowds, you get the privacy of a whole house and come and go at your own pace — and entry tickets to Terme Čatež are included. You’re among the first into the riviera in the morning, and you return to the quiet in the afternoon.
